December 2nd- Family Traditions

So... today's question is about family traditions. What is a holiday family tradition you remember and love from when you were little?

For me?

I loved baking cookies with my mom and sisters (and decorating them!). I mean, you had to pile on the sugars and sprinkles! Even though the more you put on, the uglier the cookie got- it was all about pouring those decorations out on top of your cookie. ☺

I also loved decorating the tree and listening to Christmas music. I mentioned in a previous post, that we had special Christmas music that we listened to... so that music always had me in the Christmas spirit. And decorating the tree was so much fun. We had a handful of ornaments that were our personal ornaments and we could put them on. Maybe the little fluffy pig we made in first grade... or the ornaments from our brother that had our names on them... whatever it was, it was special.

And I loved doing the Swedish advent tree. I always got to do it on my birthday no matter whose turn it was... Actually, I loved any type of Advent activity... we had the Advent tree, and we had other kinds of Advent calendars and such... I loved the anticipation and count down to Christmas.

I also loved Daddy's egg nog. It was a must have while we decorated the tree, or on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. I tried to start a tradition with Jeffrey that we would drink egg nog (store bought) while we put up our Christmas tree. It stopped last year. He doesn't like store bought egg nog. In fact, he might not like egg nog at all. But I didn't like the store bought egg nog. So, oh well... I hear that Daddy gave the recipe to my little sister. Dad, what about us!?! (Okay- inside family joke. Sorry.)

Share some of your memories of traditions as a kid!
