God Is Speaking...

Here is a note I got from a friend:

A while back I happened to click on the link on your Facebook page for your blog and I saw your post about your husband's thoughts on becoming an Army chaplain. I hope it's ok but I just thought I'd share a thought. I don't know a much about the Army or really about the military but I've been learning a lot since I met my boyfriend two years ago. He's been in the military for 14 years: first the Army and then the Air Force. And it was an Army chaplain who had a key role in him really understanding Christ's salvation and becoming a Christian. So, I can totally understand your hesitation in putting your family into the military culture, but I also wanted to encourage you that there is definitely a ministry need. And I personally am grateful for those who chose to serve not only our country but also HIM in that way. I just wanted to encourage you and let you know that although I think it is hard and scary to put yourself into the military world (trust me, the longer I date Brian the more I realize the sacrifices everyone has to make), there is also an everlasting reward as people's lives are changed for HIM. I'll be praying that no matter what you guys decide, you feel peace. :)

To be honest, these were things I had already been thinking about- would I really want to stand in the way of how God can use Jeffrey? If he is feeling called to minister in that area- why should I say no? And it's lives like Brian's that are touched and changed because of people like Jeff- that want to tell others about his salvation and faith. If my husband was the Brian in the situation, I'd be forever grateful for anybody that had directed him toward Christ.

There is still a lot to think about and pray about. Jeffrey wants to finalize our adoption before he signs up. (If he were away, we'd not be able to adopt.) I understand his plan, but sometimes I wonder just how much longer we can wait (childless) while he's getting mistreated in his current job and while he's feeling called to serve others. God's timing is everything. I need to keep reminding myself of that.
