I hadn't seen Scout (our stray cat) for quite awhile. You might remember that I bought a little pet tent for him. He used it for a few weeks, but stopped using it. In fact, he really didn't come around much for a long time. We'd see him here and there, but not often.
I am doing some cleaning, de-cluttering, and organizing before our home visit takes place on Saturday. I was taking out the garbage and recycling and noticed a very unpleasant smell. I kept smelling around our bench (which sits by our back door). It was stronger there than anywhere else. It was the (familiar) smell of cat. You know... the smell of cat when they're marking their territory...
(Now you know why I told you not to read if you were eating...)
Come to find out, a cat (I doubt it was Scout) had "marked" the tent. I ended up throwing it in the garbage (fleece blanket and all). :(
That would explain why Scout has not been sleeping in it lately... AND why he hasn't been coming around much anymore. How sad.
Funny thing is, once I threw it in the garbage... who would appear but Scout himself! He was meowing at my back door for food. Aw. Cute little guy.
Well... he's been sleeping SOMEWHERE. So I am not going out to buy another tent. And I'm just not going to worry about it. He'll be just fine. (Right?) I will, however, feed him when he comes around. (Sorry, Dad.)
