The Magic Scale

For Jeffrey's birthday (sort of as an inside joke) I got him a scale from Ikea. It was pretty cheap... somewhere between $4-6. The reason I had to get it was because every time we go to the grocery store, Jeff makes a comment about how "I'm pretty I've been losing weight..." and he's so proud of himself for it. However, at home, he looks in the mirror and says "I can't believe how much weight I've gained..." So the scale was supposed to help us... to weigh before and after the grocery shopping... to weigh as we look in the mirror...

Well, he weighed himself and the scale said 225. He was bummed "Wow. I've gained a lot." And I was totally laughing. "There is no way you weigh 225 when just a few months ago you were around 190." I jumped on the scale and it said 125. That's pretty accurate, I think, but I was guessing it would be higher because of all the swelling from surgery.

Jeff weighed himself holding Sydney (our over-stuffed cat). The scale said 225. Huh? Sydney does not weigh nothing.

I weighed myself holding Bailey (our petite kitty) and the scale said 140. And Bailey does not weigh 15 pounds!!!

There is something strangely wrong with our scale.

  1. Maybe because it was so cheap. Even though most Ikea stuff is good. I think it got confused on which cat was which. Cause I think Sydney is more likely to weigh 15 lbs. At least it is giving you amusement. :)
