Last night I was talking to a friend of mine about how God has never failed to provide for our needs. Even in the hardest of times, His provision has been obvious and real. We were talking about this because she was asking about our adoption process and the fundraising we're doing, and then we got off to talking about how I haven't worked for over a year and between that, my medical bills, and now our adoption fees, money is kind of (really) tight.
I let her know where my heart is... that I'm not greedy. That I'm a simple person. And that most of all, I love to give others. I love to do the little things- like pull a name off the Angel Tree and buy a child a gift at Christmas time... like support a child through World Vision... like give gifts to people, even when it's least expected... etc... As money has been tighter, it's been harder to do these things. However, Jeff and I realize that God tells us (in the Bible) that when we bless others with what God has blessed us with, He will be sure to continue to bless us. And really? We have seen this become so true and so real. People have been so giving and generous with our adoption fundraisers. It's awesome to see God's people come together and work like this.
(This reminds me of something I heard once... it was about a man that was poor, but prayed "Lord, please provide for our needs. And please bless us with just a little bit more so that we can bless others.")
What I wanted to tell you, though, is about another "friend." You see, I don't really know her. She is a friend of a friend that I met last summer. She seemed really sweet and friendly. But I never really thought I'd see her again or anything...
Soon, on Facebook, another friend of mine posted some photos of her friends. And suddenly, I recognized one of them! It was the girl I met last summer!!! I suddenly wrote her a note (on Facebook) and told her I thought it was so funny that we knew two of the same people from two completely different places. (Small world!) She added me as a friend on Facebook, and we really haven't talked much since, but I've always seen her statuses and such.
I got something in the mail today from her. It was a check for our adoption process.
It nearly brought me to tears.
She doesn't really even know me! She is friends with two of my friends, but she doesn't really even know me!
Now that is God working and using His people. That is a blessing.
Wow. What a sweet thing to do!
