Zoo Day

We made a trip to the zoo yesterday. It was an event that the Shriners put on each August... a tradition where they invite families of Shriners to enjoy a day at the zoo, a lunch, and other perks while at the zoo. We even got to bring Little M! (Jeff's grandpa is a Shriner, so we spent the day with that side of the family.) The weather was supposed to be stormy, humid, and hot (95 degrees). I was kind of dreading heading out to the zoo under these conditions. Because of my health problems, I really don't do well in the heat or humidity. Add the storms, and then you just have a bunch of hot, sweaty bodies trying to take cover in the same cramped building. I admit, my attitude as we headed out was sour. But then I started to pray for the day. I told God that I don't care what the weather forecasters say... although I HAD been checking the weather for the days and moments leading up to this event, following any (hardly any!) change that may hopefully take place. Not much change- the forecast was still for a hot, humid, stormy day. So anyway; I told God that I didn't care what the forecasters had to say... I don't put my trust in them... I put my trust in Him. And I told Him that if it just might be His will, I'd love to have a beautiful day. And guess what? It was His will! We got to Brookfield and it was still kind of cloudy. But it wasn't 10 minutes of being at the zoo and the skies cleared up- blue skies appeared and the sun popped out. And that's how it stayed all day long. Not only that, but there was a gorgeous breeze that kept us from feeling too hot. It was wonderful!

Little M playing in the fountains... yes, she was entirely DRENCHED!
(and yes, we did have a change of clothes for her)
