I Am WAY Behind...

I did have some stuff to blog about. I have kind of been depressed or in a funk lately that I've just sort of avoided blogging.

On Sunday, we had bumped into our friend, Darryl, while we were at the library. We got to talking about a project Darryl's going to be doing for us while we're out of town. He is going to be redoing our kitchen and bathroom floor. After talking a bit, we asked him to come on down to our house (we live just down the street from the library) and look at the floor again and let us know what we need for him. So, shortly after we got home, Darryl came over too. While Darryl was here, we were very embarrassed by our stray cats meowing and crying at each other. I politely excused myself from the conversation and went out back to break up the issues and to feed the cats. As if I should be surprised, the orange cat was being a pig and hogging all the food from all the other cats. So I went back out there and poured the food in a variety of bowls. Seriously, between the crying and the food stealing, I was out there a handful of times.

Darryl had gone home, and Jeff and I were trying to get supper ready and get the house in order a little bit before Jeff started his work week back up. Usually, when we get supper ready, we call Bailey into the bathroom so she can't get at our food. Otherwise she begs and interferes. Well, I was calling Bailey, our younger, black cat. But she was not coming! I shook the treats, and nothing! I let Jeff know, and he was helping me search everywhere. Sometimes she accidentally gets shut into the porch or mudroom, or even the bedrooms. We checked everywhere, calling her name. She was nowhere to be seen. Jeff went outside to look for her, in case she had gotten out. Suddenly, he's calling my name. I went running outside. "I think Bailey is under the car with the kittens." He told me. Well, our only problem was determining if it was Bailey or Blacky- the Mama cat. We called her, and we shook treats. The cat came running out and was like a crazy woman! She ran all over the yard, and we chased her. Next thing we knew, she meowed. It was Bailey. The meow was too familiar. We chased her some more, and then Jeff ran in to get her favorite toy. Not only did she totally love the toy, as Bailey would, but she started panting, just like Bailey does. IT HAS TO BE HER! We thought for sure. We each took turns diving at her and missing. Then, plan B (or would this be plan C?), Jeff got a can of cat food and opened it in front of her. She came running to it. He set it on the ground and she started eating. Slowly and surely, I crept up on her... then yank! I grabbed her and ran to the mudroom with her. Jeff shut the door behind me and we examined this mystery kitty... she was declawed. And she did have the little white speck on her fur. Yes. This was, indeed, our Bailey. The poor thing had probably been outside for hours, and we didn't ever notice it. We were so glad she stuck close to the house, didn't run into the street, and that we were able to catch her.

I have updates on doctor stuff too, but I'm going to save it for tomorrow. More later...
