Attacked By A Grocery Bag
I was unloading groceries this afternoon and Bailey, our younger cat, was getting in the way an awful lot. I kept getting her down off the counter, shooing her away, etc... Well, she started to nose herself into an empty, plastic grocery bag. I thought "you know, that's not safe for kids to play with, should I really be letting the cat play with it?" But I turned to put something away, and before I even came up with my own answer, Bailey jumped, getting spooked by something. She had her head through the handle of the bag, and she started running. The rustling sound of the bag was scaring her even more. (Picture a kitty with a cape- made out of a plastic bag... that was her.) She ran in the dining room, past Sydney. Now Sydney was spooked and he ran away. Bailey ran into the bedroom and hid under the bed. I ran in there and grabbed her to get her untangled from the bag. She was breathing really hard, and her heart was racing. Both cats had what Jeffrey calls "football tails," where it puffs up really big... and the hair on their back stands up. I call it "spooking." But when it's Bailey, the black cat, I call it "Halloween Kitty." Anyway; Bailey could not calm herself down, so I put her in the bathroom, alone. When I checked on her, she was doing fine. Sydney was still spooked and sneaking around every corner. I think they learned a lesson... not to play with the grocery bags!
