The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...

Opening Eloise's gift.

My awesome birthday cake.

Eloise, playing Birthday Bingo.

I have put off writing about my birthday because there is so much to talk about. First of all, this year was so fun! I had several celebrations, so my birthday lasted a LONG time. I will try not to get used to this. =)

The party that my family had for me was much like any other family gathering. Mom made her yummy fried chicken and mashed potatoes with her yummy spinach! It was great! The cake was hilarious! It had a picture of me on it. I think I was 4 or 5 when it was taken. I'm wearing ear muffs and playing a Fisher Price drum. It was Jewel cake... one of my favorites. It was just a really fun time, and I enjoyed the time with family.

There was one thing, however, that really made my day. I was opening gifts, and Eloise, my 3 yr old niece, was so excited to give me her gift. I opened it up so carefully. There was a clump of tissue paper inside the bag, so I gently unwrapped the paper. Inside, were 4 1/2, very used crayons. It was all I could do to keep from laughing. I noticed there were two crayons that were yellow, so I commented "Wow! Two yellows! That's perfect because yellow is my favorite color!" Eloise was so pleased. And I do not think I will EVER get rid of those crayons. It so much reminded me of "the thought that counts." Because all Eloise wanted to do was give me a present. It didn't have to come from a store. And it was something SHE enjoyed, so she knew I'd enjoy it too. What a neat experience... for both of us!

Glad you liked the crayons, especially the "wellow" ones. :)
