I Can't Really Believe It...

Today is an off day for me... "off" means two things.
1) It means that I'm not out and about... I'm at home.
2) Things are strange here... not as planned.

My car broke yesterday. We're not sure what's wrong yet, but we're waiting for warmer weather so my dad can look at it. (I mention my dad a lot when it comes to our house and cars... he's just a really handy guy with lots of skills... kinda like Napoleaon Dynamite... only cooler.)
We're down to one car, so I'm home today... which is fine. I was waiting for our dryer to arrive. And it did! Hooray for that! And when I went to show the guys where in the basement to put it, I saw some water sitting on the floor... a small puddle. "OH GREAT!" I thought.
It didn't look too horrible. And I wasn't sure what it was from. So I ignored it.
When the guys left, I started a load of laundry and then I noticed the puddle getting larger.
Long story short, the city of Elgin came out to see if it was their sewers... it's not. They said ours must be backed up. And I don't really understand it, since we JUST had a plumber here a month ago. So, my dad (yes, my dad) will be coming out today to look at it. He'll see if he can do anything to help it. If not, we'll have to call the plumber back.
I've been watching "Home Alone" and wrapping Christmas presents. It's been kinda fun, but then all this was going on, and now I feel sort of sad and depressed. I will probably take a little nap and then work on my wrapping some more. I'm taking a break from laundry, since the basement has issues.
