There Has to Be a Balance...

Some of you wonder about me. Why am I so quick to say no to people? Why do I appear to be so lazy even when I'm not working?

I do have answers for you...

It's all been a process... a huge learning experience.

I used to be one of those people that packed my day full- full of work, chores, meetings, appointments, rehearsals, studies, social events, etc... But I was burning myself out! I was tired before I got half way through the day. And I soon dreaded what the afternoon and evening was bringing my way... even if it was just a social event.

But here's the thing, People... there has to be a balance. Not just for your own sanity, but for the fairness and sanity of those around you (family members, friends, co-workers, etc...). If you're burned out, they can tell and more than likely it is hindering relationships.

What do I do then?

I have my calendar. On it, I keep track of my appointments, meetings, studies, rehearsals, social events, etc... So when somebody calls me and asks me to hang out on Tuesday, I look at my calendar and see that I have Bible study in the evening, errands to run in the morning... so no! The answer is no. I need to make time for eating lunch, resting/napping, and more importantly- spending time with God. When I know I'm taking care of me then I know I can take care of you.

To some this sounds selfish. To me it sounds sane.

  1. That doesn't sound selfish, that sounds like you said sane. It also sounds like what you're supposed to be doing. Isn't that why you aren't supposed to work? So that you can have time for things like rest, helthful eating, etc?
