I learned a lot of things on the retreat I went on... things about life and things about myself:
* There is a McDonald's in the middle of the Chicago Skyway... I mean- it's in the middle of the road!
* There is a park in the middle of a cornfield once you cross the border into Indiana.
* Amish people ride bikes!
* Dandelions have good nutrients for you! And people actually eat them! (I guess people eat other weeds too...)
* Even if you're on a low/no sugar diet, you're allowed to finish off somebody else's pie as long as you eat it with joy.
* In the game Bunko- you get to throw a bag of candy at people even if they're not paying attention.
* Women can eat more than they let themselves eat. They just think it's improper to eat a lot, so they try to limit themselves. Hmmm... I must not be proper or very ladylike.
* I have a phobia of wearing name tags- whether it's a sticker tag or a pin... I just can't do it.
* I have a phobia of water... I don't like to take baths and when I take showers I need to face the "wrong" way- with the water to my back. I don't like pools or anything. I'm afraid of water that comes up to my chest, and I feel like it's just wrong to have only half your body in the water.
* I'm afraid of beaches- of the water and of the seaweed. You never know when that stuff will jump up and grab you.
The dandelion thing I knew!!! Matt and I are growing dandelions... but did you know that it's HARDER to grow them on purpose than on accident? We planted a bah-zillion seeds, and one came up. One. You can make a nice tea out of the flowers, and cook the greens to eat like spinach! OR you can put them on a salad fresh! YUM! :)
ReplyDeleteI THINK I knew the rule about finishing other people's pie. If I didn't know the rule, it is certainly helpful, and perhaps it's a rule we could share with Jackson for next Thanksgiving???
Orange ya' glad I told ya'?
