Pastor Elliott asked us to try to picture Jesus. Sometimes, people picture Him on the cross, as He died for our sins. Some people picture Him sitting on His throne, with a robe and a crown of a King. I think for each person it's different.
For me, it depends on my mood. When I need to repent, I try to picture Jesus on the cross, saving me and forgiving me. When I need to remember how awesome and powerful He is, I think of Him on His throne. But most of the time, primarily when I just need to talk, I think of Him in a unique way...
Awhile ago, I asked myself "What's my way of picturing Jesus?" For me, I thought of how I picture my dad. One neat thing that my dad has always done for me, is when I need to talk (or cry!), he sits me on his lap, holds me, hugs me, and listens to me. So, when I think of Jesus, I think of Him sitting in a chair at my dining room table, or a rock outside somewhere, and I'm sitting on His lap. He is wiping each tear away and listening to me pour out my heart to Him. I love that vision.
You write nice, kid.
ReplyDeleteI read something yesterday that made me think of you... It's from that book "pray&watch." Just a piece from the beginning of Section 1:

...before my feet hit the floor, I sensed God saying something to me.
"How can you not be excited about this day? I am working and you get to come along and watch!"
I started the day with a whole different perspective and anticipation, not that I had to make something happen, but that I got to walk with God and see what He would do. It was a most freeing feeling!

Thank you for the inspiration, Daddy! :)
