Recovering

I went to see my surgeon today. All is well.

I guess what happened was this: she looked at me (initially) and guessed that it would be a minor surgery, lasting about 1 hour or so. I went in there for surgery and came out 3 1/2 hours later... not so minor.

She explained to me today two very important things.
1) My right side is badly bruised because that was the side that had the recurring hernia. She had to peel back scar tissue from before and then repair the hernia. The peeling caused lots of oozing and bleeding... so it took awhile and it caused bruising.
2) My left side was a hernia, but she was not able easily pull it back in, as she thought. It had several little cyst-like sacs inside of it, that were fluid-filled. She had drain each one of them and then precede to repair the hernia.

So yes... I did have complications in surgery. And yes, surgery did go longer than expected. And yes, it's okay to be in so much pain and so bruised up.

She also refilled my Tylenol 3! I think I'm going to be okay...
