I Wish (Part 2)

That previous post was written after seeing several posts on Freecycle for free cats, free kittens, and free dogs. How sad... and each one pulls at my heart and makes we want to hit "reply" and shout "YES! I WANT THEM!"

Well, we have our share of strays here. When we first moved in, our neighbor was feeding a male stray that they named "Fluffy." I like Fluffy. He's a good cat. Within the past several months, I had started to see another Fluffy. Only this Fluffy wasn't as Fluffy... and didn't come around a whole lot. I asked the neighbor about it. This is "Fluffy's Look-Alike." Mmkay. Fine. Well, even more recently, I saw a black cat hanging around my back yard. Not my black kitty, but a different one. I named this one "Blacky." (We're so orignial, aren't we?)

One day,our neighbor announced to me that Fluffy was a daddy and Blacky was the momma. However, the neighbor had only seen one kitten. But the odd thing? Fluffy and Blacky were caring for the kitten together! Once in awhile, I'd see the little kitten run and hide in a bush. The neigbor named the kitten "Fluffy Jr." because it did look like a miniature Fluffy.

Today, I was walking in my back yard... just for fun... minding my own business... when I saw Blacky nursing Fluffy Jr and another kitten! I do not know if they had two kittens, or if this is somebody else's. It is smaller than Fluffy Jr. (Maybe a runt?) Immediately, I changed Fluffy Jr's name to "Chubby Baby" and named this other kitten "Little Baby." I have gone back to check on my kitties (which live in our wood pile and in the plants behind the garage). I fed Chubby Baby aka Fluffy Jr tonight- he wouldn't come all the way out... but he wasn't totally afraid of me.

When I went back out to check on the little family, Blacky was walking in the freshly mowed grass and Chubby Baby was jumping around next to her. Not sure where Little Baby is yet. But at least they're happy living in my yard. And I'm happy they are living there too.

I think I need to buy some cheap cat food for them. :)
