The First Try...

Hello to friends and family... one of my wonderful friends gave me the idea to try blogging (you know who you are!). I've never done this before, and I'm kind of nervous. However, I thought this would be a neat way to update everybody on life in our little Fritsch family. Not that it's super exciting... but hey- easier to stay in touch and to be up-to-date.

News for now:

Jeff and I are making an offer on a house tonight. It's a tiny little house, very cute and well taken care of. It will make for a really nice first house. (And yes... for all that are curious... there would be room for when we decide to adopt! Not a WHOLE lot of room... but some.) It's across the street from Elgin's HUGE library, and also in the same neighborhood that my older sister lives in (with my grandparents!). It is still really close to my family, which is one thing we like(d) about our apartment.

Speaking of our apartment... a-hem. We have had the CUTEST little ants in (yes, IN) the apartment all spring time long. (Of course I say CUTEST with sarcasm... we're getting very tired of them.) Then, suddenly, the other day, I find a nice little community of ants in the corner of our bedroom... not only that, but it seems they have made friends with winged ants... and they, too, have moved into the apartment. Of course I went insect spray happy... and sprayed all over the place... then vaccuumed. And still, I see "flying ants" as I like to call them. Yuck. Don't get me wrong... we don't live in some dingy place... it's a nice building... just on the ground level... ants have more access. The only roach we ever had came in on our Christmas tree the first year we were married... but that's another story. ANYWAY; so my dear husband asks me to please clean up the bedroom so the land lord can come in and look around for the cause of the ants (and flying ants!). So yesterday, I did an ever so wonderful job cleaning... really, I did. And guess what?!? I found ANOTHER community in our CLOSET! Ew! I almost had a heart attack... then I almost fainted. Then I almost just grabbed the cat and left the building. Ha ha ha... but you guessed it... I went spray happy again and took care of it. Now we wait for the land lord.

(Exciting, isn't it?)

Anyway; most of you know I had open heart surgery again in April. I'm doing so well... much better than my family (or I!) expected I'd be doing. This coming Tuesday ends my "recovery period" and I can drive again (and ride in the front seat again... no more "Driving Miss Daisy!"). I can't wait! I am supposed to be allowed to start lifting things again, taking it easy, of course. But at least I can babysit again... I missed my nieces and my little buddies from church. And can you believe I haven't held my cat in a month and a half... sad!

My cat is another exciting story. He was favoring one of his paws... so my mom and I took him into the vet. The vet checked him out, making sure nothing was broken or anything. And come to find out... he's just too fat. I guess his paws are sore from jumping off furniture when he weighs so much! My kitty is a precious boy... he's much like Garfield... really, he is. He's big and orange. I got him from my sister's farm almost 6 yrs ago when he was just a baby! And now, he's a big boy... 22 lbs at the vet. He is on a diet now, and he should go down to 15 lbs... can't wait to see this happen!

Anyway; I'd really better stop talking/writing/blogging. I have to clean the REST of the apartment now! I'll be back... so check back later!

PS: I DID do spell check... I really did... so if you find something spelled wrong, it is a computer's error... not mine.

  1. Congrats on the new blog. I look forward to seeing what is to come for you two. Congrats on the new house or at least know I am praying you get what God wants for you. As far as the music player goes I understand. Technology, though it can be a great helper, it can also make you get totally frustrated as well at times.
Take care and hopefully all things will work out on June 21st for us to hang. Take care!
